thoughts on ā€œar•ram•bam experience: volume twoā€ in San Francisco on Nov 8th šŸ’Ž

we wanted to spend some time to talk about the upcoming ar•ram•bam experience: volume two in San Francisco on November 8th (next Saturday).

some context: the first ar•ram•bam experience: volume one that we hosted in New York was an incredible moment. we brought together 30+ creatives to create what we see as the Tamil American world, across a multitude of different forms of media.

Tamil American culture sits at this intersection of being Tamil, but also Western. many of us who grew up here, or have lived here for many years, carry our own unique individual experiences and stories.

the goal of that experience was to give every creative the space to showcase their own stories and their own experiences through their artistry —
through the art gallery portion,
through the ar•ram•bam tape,
and even at the after-party with the DJs and the dance sets.

we wanted people to literally walk into a Tamil American world and experience different parts of it. not because we know exactly what Tamil American culture is — but because we’re in the process of defining it.

creating these experiences gives us the ability to:

  • see how people react,

  • see how they interact with it,

  • understand how it’s received,

  • learn from it,

  • and continue to build and be more creative.

and that’s exactly what we’re looking to do again —
create another Tamil American world,
but this time across the country on the West Coast, in San Francisco.

we’ve had the opportunity and privilege to host different types of experiences in SF before — Tamil meetups, dance workshops, even comedy shows — but we want ar•ram•bam experience: volume two to be something completely new.

our goal is that when you walk through the doors at the industrial warehouse in downtown San Francisco, you’re entering into a new environment, a new experience, where you’re able to experience Tamil American culture in a way that wasn’t possible before.

to make that happen, we’re bringing together creators across different forms and formats to showcase stories and experiences that represent our own — what shaped us growing up, and what we believe this culture and community looks like today.

that’s the whole point of the night —
and what we’re creating.

just like New York.
but in a new place, with a new world.
